Santa Claus lives and pays taxes in Canada – Government affirms!

CTVNews.ca has received an email recently from Mr.Ahmed Hussein, a spokesperson for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister. There is a poetic statement in that email and it tells that Santa and Mrs. Claus are Canadian citizens residing in the North Pole. However, the minister’s office hasn’t confirmed yet whether the Clauses hold any paper to prove the statement, citing privacy issues.
Amazing claims haven’t stopped
Another spokesperson said that the Claus couple is always dressed in patriotic colors, they are compassionate and try to grow spirit to define the meaning of a true Canadian.
The Canadian Revenue Agency has also said that it has the detailed tax records on Claus couple from the northern part of Canada. However, in an emailed statement, CRA spokesperson Michael Hanlon told CTVNews.ca that though due to the “confidentiality provisions” of the Income Tax Act, the Canada Revenue Agency or CRA can’t make comments on specific cases, but, after getting a kind permission from Claus couple, CRA can share some confidential information about their tax filing activities.
CRA has claimed that Claus couple gets benefitted from the Northern Residents Deduction. That means CRA thinks that the Claus couple has been staying in Northern Canada for more than six respective months. Mr. Hanlon said that CRA records show that Claus couple has filed each and every tax return at proper times.
